Preparing your wellness journey
Planning ahead is key for a smooth medical journey abroad. At WellTour, we guide you through every step—ensuring you’re fully prepared, informed, and supported from start to finish.
Planning Ahead
Malaysia’s tropical climate makes it ideal for year-round treatment, but early planning is key. Start at least three months in advance to secure better prices and quality care.
Plan your trip duration, including treatment, recovery, and rehab time
Avoid strenuous activities and traveling too soon after treatment
Allow extra days or weeks for unexpected recovery delays
Keep your schedule flexible to reduce stress
Focus on healing first; plan sightseeing around your recovery
Documents
Ensure all documents are ready before departure, including a valid passport, credit card with PIN, medical records, and any treatment-related information.
Ensure your passport is valid for at least 6 months after leaving Malaysia
Check your credit card expiry date and activate the PIN
Consider increasing your card limit and daily ATM withdrawal limit
Confirm access to your funds in Malaysia with your bank
Prepare and bring required documents for treatment and insurance claims
Request a copy of your medical records from your doctor
Bring printed and/or digital copies of all important bookings and correspondence
Visa Requirements
Travelers from the US, Europe, and Australia don’t need a visa for Malaysia. A 90-day stay is granted on arrival. For longer stays, contact the Malaysian embassy before your trip.
Inform Key Contacts and Prepare for Emergencies
Inform your doctor, family, friends, and any other relevant parties about your planned medical trip.
Check with your healthcare facilitator if the treatment is covered, including flights and hotel stays
Confirm if your insurance covers you while traveling to and staying in Malaysia
If you don’t have travel insurance, make sure to get one before your trip
Understand the conditions for repatriation in case of emergencies
Prepare a contact list with details of family, friends, GP, specialists, and other key people
For high-risk procedures, consider preparing a will in advance
